Yesterday marked the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Like so many others, I was deeply affected by the event but could only imagine the pain of the ones who lost loved ones that day. Yet, it changed us all. I am struck by how life, rather than death, was celebrated in the various retrospectives last week. We all, beyond borders, feel deeply connected by this common experience.
How did it change our way to communicate in a lasting way? I was challenged to think about it this week-end after I received an email from Scott Heiferman, co-founder and CEO of Meetup. In it, he explained how the website, which now helps connect 10 million users 10 years later, simply started in the wake of 9/11.
